Overview:

In the development of portable electronics a problem often arises in regards to running the product under conditions expected in the real world. These products help by providing accurate control of a simulated battery under various state of charge. From new or fully charged to discharged, the behavior changes by a large amount. With the supplied LabView software your actual battery can be simulated under real to highly accelerated operation. Two versions are available differing in output capabilities. Compare to Keithley models 2302 and 2306 at much lower cost.

 

 

BATSIM 101B Rechargeable & Primary Battery Simulator                US $1649.00

Simulates the Voltage and ESR of Lithium-Ion and ALK, NiCad, NiMH, Lithium batteries.
Voltage range from 2.5V to 4.2V in manual mode, 0V to 5V in DAQ mode.
ESR range from 0 to 2 Ohms in manual and DAQ mode. Output current up to 3.0A.
Provides a buffered battery voltage and current output on rear panel.

Current output discrete sampled or accumulated on integrator for accurate pulse measurements.
2 Quadrant operation can both source and sink current from load. Can be “charged” like a battery.
Four-wire remote sensing offers better precision at your UUT.

Internal 14 bit National Instruments DAQ provides reliable, accurate measurements.

BATSIM 101LE Lithium-Ion Battery Simulator                    US $1000.00

Same as 101A but without data acquisition, remote functions or software control.

Useful for Production Test where limited adjustment is required.

GRAE L.L.C. BATSIM 200

BATTERY SIMULATOR SOFTWARE

 

BATSIM 200 SOFTWARE (included with hardware)

LabView-based software available that can run actual or generic Voltage/ESR profiles of your battery type. Software changes the simulated battery voltage and ESR depending on amount of current in or out of battery simulator. Offers the much needed ability to accelerate the discharge or charge rate of the simulated battery to obtain UUT results in a more timely manner.

 

The screenshot below shows the operation of a PDA style cell phone running from startup thru several incoming and one outgoing calls to shutdown. It is running from a battery voltage and ESR curve generated by our BatTest software. Startup processes and low current modes are evident as well as ring and full screen brightness modes. All data is stored for this run in an XL compatible file. For this test 512 Joules were used in 19 minutes. Extended testing would be used to show battery life over hours and days depending on usage.

 

 

In this screenshot an MP3 Player is starting up and playing 6 songs. It is then recharged from the supplied charger. Note the accumulated joules now runs backwards and the battery voltage and ESR dataset reverses. It then plays four more tracks and ends up with 252 Joules used. This test was further facilitated by starting the test run with a lower battery voltage than the screenshot above. The starting point on the battery dataset is changed by pulling the vertical cursor left and right. This also allows manual control with Out and ESR Enable.
